TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Overhead Cranes – used to lift ladles from preheat to the BOF and from the BOF to the ladle car. FG2000® is used to supply power to the lifting motors, brakes, dynamos, transverse motors, and grease pumps. FG2000® is sometimes supplied with an overall stainless steel braid for slag protection.
- Teeming Ladles – used to carry molten steel from furnaces to the continuous caster or ingot mold. FG2000® is used to supply power to pivoting motors, tilting motors, ladle cars, rotary nozzles, and is often installed in steel conduits for maximum mechanical protection.
- Teeming Ladle Transfer Cars - FG2000® is being used to supply power to the car which transports the teeming ladle from the furnace area to the continuous caster or ingot mold, via the re-heater, to link the pivoting motor, tilting motor, ladle car, and supply power to the rotary nozzle.
- Mud Guns - FG2000® has been very successful in mud gun operations when ordered with a stainless steel braid for slag protection.
- Slab Casters & Billet Casters - FG2000® is being used to power electric motors for the rollers. In these operations, where ingots are rolled back and forth and compressed into bars sheets or shaped slabs, cables are exposed to high ambient temperatures and steam from the water cooling system. Moisture resistance is a critical feature of FG2000® in these applications. Optional construction uses a stainless steel braid for slag protection.
- Electric Arc Furnaces - FG2000® is being used to power the tundish cart which lines up the tundish between the teeming ladle (above), and the steel molds (below). Reliability is of the utmost concern to prevent spillage. Other applications in continuous casters would be expected due to the importance of maintaining continuous operation.
- Slag Cars, Torpedo Cars, Coke Ovens, Electro-Magnets - FG2000® is being used wherever reliability is required under high-temperature conditions, and offers excellent mechanical resistance to vibrations and repeated shocks and thermal variations. FG2000® is flexible, compact and easy to work with and can be stripped and installed using conventional installation methods.
